PROJECT PISTIS SOPHIA:
A reinterpretation of an ancient text

This project explores the Gnostic text Pistis Sophia through the symbolic language of the Major Arcana of the Tarot and an accompanying musical journey.

In this ancient text, Sophia — Wisdom itself — longs to experience the ultimate source, the Light of Lights. In her innocent curiosity she descends from the divine fullness into the lower realms of chaos, where she becomes entangled in the illusions created by the Demiurge and the Archonic rulers. Through struggle, insight, and repentance, she gradually remembers her origin and begins the long ascent back toward the divine source.

In this project, Sophia’s descent and restoration are mapped onto the 22 archetypes of the Major Arcana, revealing the Tarot as an initiatory journey of consciousness. Each card becomes a stage in her story: the innocence of the Fool, the structures of power and illusion, the collapse of false realities, and finally the awakening of the divine spark.

Accompanying the visual and symbolic journey is an original musical composition (accessable via QR Codes in the book), where each stage of the arc unfolds through sound, rhythm, and atmosphere.
Music becomes a second language of the myth, allowing the listener to experience Sophia’s journey not only intellectually, but emotionally and intuitively.

Together, Tarot and music create an immersive exploration of the timeless question at the heart of the Gnostic tradition:

How does consciousness forget its origin —
and how does it remember?
